A South African based  civil society initiative with a focus on peace, conflict transformation and development in Africa seeks to recruit a dynamic and highly motivated individual for the position of Coordinator.

The ACTION Support Centre strives to assist and strengthen organisations and individuals working to respond effectively to the deep-rooted social and political conflicts across the continent. It connects people working for peace and development, human and people’s rights and social transformation in countries throughout Africa affected by conflict and violence.

The ASC is looking for an experienced Coordinator who will drive the implementation of the ASC strategic plan for 2016-2021. The first six months of this position will require a leader with excellent communication skills and an ability to work with people and hit the ground running. Focused on consolidating and re-invigorating the current team the Coordinator will also be responsible for identifying and locking down opportunities for growth and expansion.

With a specific mandate to strengthen and expand the web of supporting partners and donors and secure longer term funding for programmes, the position will also spearhead regional and continental networking and drive an income generating facilitation and training services expansion strategy.

The job requires someone with a background or passion for development and peacebuilding who understands people and their dynamics as well as the interactions between developmental dynamics and conflict. If you can think and operate at multiple levels, are as comfortable in community halls as in a board room, and are looking for a chalenging position with massive potential to grow then this is the job for you.

Language skills, including French and Portuguese an asset, fluent written and spoken English essential. Ability to travel domestically and internationally essential.
